Whether you’re a regular commuter or just planning a day trip, Sacramento Regional Transit District can help get you where you need to go conveniently and on budget.
Fare options include single rides or daily, monthly and semi-monthly passes that can be used for unlimited bus and light rail rides. In addition, seniors, students and riders with disabilities may be eligible for discounted fares.
ZipPass Mobile Fare App
With the free ZipPass mobile fare app—available on Google Play and the App Store—you can pay for your light rail or bus ride right from your smartphone. Download the app, create an account and pre-purchase single tickets or passes to have ready for when you are on the go.
To use, activate your pass just before boarding and show your active pass to the bus operator when boarding the bus or have ready to show fare inspection staff when riding light rail.
The easy to use Connect Card (transit smart card) keeps your pass and cash value information securely at your fingertips. Register your Connect Card to manage your account online, including checking and reloading balances and to protect against loss or theft. Enrolling in SacRT’s autoload program automatically reloads your account when the balance runs low or your pass is about to expire. Cards can be ordered online and mailed to you or picked up at any customer service center.
To use, just tap the Connect Card on the readers located on buses and at each light rail station and you’re ready to ride. Connect Cards can be used to travel with multiple transit agencies, including:
- El Dorado Transit
- Folsom Stage Line
- Placer County Transit
- Roseville Transit
- Yuba-Sutter Transit
For cash fares, exact change is required when boarding your bus because the drivers do not carry change. Basic single fares are $2.50 and discount single fares for seniors, students and individuals with disabilities are $1.25 (some discount fares require proof of age or identification).
Cash is also accepted at fare vending machines located at each of SacRT’s 52 light rail stations. Credit cards can be used at most light rail stations to purchase tickets and passes, and will soon be available for use at all stations when the new fare vending machines are installed.
