Sacramento record store The Beat closing this month after 31 years

Record store The Beat’s marquee had a sad message this week: After 31 years and 19 in Midtown, it will close its doors for good at the end of this month.

And, now, the shop just announced it on Facebook (52 shares in less than an hour):

Record stories dying isn’t new to Sacramento. From behemoth Tower to beloved grid hangout Phono Select, music fans in the city have had their fair share of funerals.

The Beat takes with it a chunk of Sacto music-scene history, and one of the best kiosks to flier for shows in the city.

Rumors are that a BevMo store might replace The Beat. SN&R will follow up in the coming weeks.
