The British rock band Arctic Monkeys performed at Golden 1 Center on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in support of the release of their latest and seventh album, The Car. The band played in front of a fervent crowd, and sold out the arena on its first and subsequent ticket releases.  AM’s frontman Alex Turner elicited uncontrolled screams from his female fans that were mildly reminiscent of the Britpop mania of the sixties.  It was an impressive spectacle for a band with a 20+ year tenure. Turner’s appeal demonstrated that the Arctic Monkeys not only remain viable, but they have presently struck a chord with a younger contingent who now make up a significant portion of the band’s fan base, and appear to have an unquenchable thirst for all things Alex. The Arctic Monkeys will play their few remaining North America tour dates in Mexico before heading to Ireland to play the final leg of their announced tour dates.
