AVL Entertainment’s Hybrid Live Music Experience “DREAMLAND” is coming

By Artemis Arthur

You’re covered in sweat, heavy beats and addictive melodies swirling around you. A live violinist is gliding his bow along his strings, bringing the sound to higher frequency. You look over your shoulder and see that the singer has come off the stage and is sweatier than you, dancing uncontrollably. It’s in this moment you realize that you have never experienced anything like this in Sacramento or Nevada County … well, ever.

Is this a dream?

Not quite, but it’s something close; and on Saturday, August 19, music-lovers are going to want to be in the Sierra Foothills.

DREAMLAND is a curated, immersive audio-visual experience that’s coming to Grass Valley. DJ and Creative Director Aaron LaMorte will be providing a soundscape of Electro, Nu Disco, Nu Funk, Neo-Soul, New Wave, Synth Pop & House meant to grip people from the first bass drop.

The wildly talented Oakland violinist, Alan Chen, will be adding a new kind of magic as he fuses live strings into the mix.  Yours truly will be adding the final touch with live vocals that pay homage to the likes of Tame Impala, Lana Del Rey, Gwen Stefani, Amy Winehouse, Gorillaz and more.

With killer remixes from Janelle Monae, Depeche Mode, Rufus Du Sol, Chromeo and Swedish House Mafia, this event is meant to bring the entire region a night of Futuristic Euro-Discotheque Grooves.

The venue for this experiment is Gold Vibe Kombuchary, an all-ages host that’s known for its excellent stage and sound, as well as kombucha made in-house. And all ages means ages here: Most parents agree that the best part of Gold Vibe is its kid’s play area, which is loaded with board games and children’s toys. It’s a place where music fans don’t have to choose between a night out or a night with the kids. Gold Vibe has something for everyone, including rotating food vendors to keep you fueled and keep your body moving.

If you haven’t made the short and scenic drive to Grass Valley, we’re planning on this a night to remember – and we hope to see you on the dancefloor.

Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door. Gold Vibe Kombuchary is located at 12615 Charles Drive in Grass Valley.
