To be honest, the more I hear about the Golden 1 Center’s upcoming shows the more confused I am about what exactly it is they’re trying to do over there. So far the answer seems to be ‘stay as middle of the road as possible.”

That would explain news that Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band will headline a show there, October 20 as part of Buffet’s “I Don’t Know” tour.

I mean, the Golden 1 Center press release kind of says it all:

“Local Parrotheads won’t want to miss their chance to soak in the full Margaritaville experience.” 

 Add Buffet to a schedule that also includes Maroon 5 (October 15) and,well, it’s not like I was hoping for Rihanna or Beyonce or anything but…OK, actually I was hoping for Rihanna or Beyonce. At least they’ve also booked the wildly popular Latin band Mano for November 9 but beyondthat the center’s programming feels dull and pedestrian.

Nothing against Parrotheads and tattooed TV singing contest judges, of course.
