SN&R film critic Daniel Barnes on The Force Awakens: 'It’s a real Star Wars movie; it’s just not a great Star Wars movie'

I was not invited to yesterday morning’s uber-secret Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Perhaps this has something to do with my being 86'd from Disneyland in 1998?

Or, more likely, it’s because I just don’t give a damn about contemporary movie-making.

SN&R’s house critic Daniel Barnes cares, though. Hell, he’s got this website, E Street Film Society, for those of you who want to go down the cinephile rabbit hole.

Barnes also caught a sneak of Star Wars Episode VXILII(or whatever it is) yesterday. His review is here.

So … did he bump it or dump it?

'It’s a real Star Wars movie; it’s just not a great Star Wars movie.”

That thinking appears out of line with most of the top critics at Rotten Tomatoes. Typical contrarian SN&R!
