Sacramento's Joe Tolo advances to the next round in the Voice

Sacramento’s had a pretty good showing in NBC’s singing show The Voice over the past few years. Lindsey Pavao, James Cavern and Jeremy Briggs have all graced the stage and impressed both judges and audiences.

This year, Sacramento’s Joe Tolo might go further than all of Sactown’s previous contestants. Last night, he advanced to the next round in the singing competition after defeating duet partner Gabriel Wolfchild in a “battle round.” The two sang the Script’s “For the First Time” together and their coach Christina Aguilera chose Tolo to advance on her team, praising his “undeniable technical skills.”

Tolo is Samoan-American, and he attended Grant Union High School in Sacramento and Cal State University East Bay before choosing to compete on the show.
