Eat free ice cream for charity

Is there really anything better than eating free ice cream? What about knowing that for every scoop of free ice cream you eat, a dollar will be donated to the Salvation Army of Sacramento?

That’s exactly what’s happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 at Cesar Chavez Plaza (910 I Street) at an event called the 10K Scoops Challenge Sacramento.

Raley’s donated 10,000 scoops of Sunnyside Farms ice cream and Denali Flavors has done their best impression of Oprah, pledging to donate a buck to the Salvation Army for every scoop eaten. Obviously, the best-case scenario here is that Sacramentans eat a collective 10,000 free scoops, $10,000 gets donated, and no one is lactose intolerant.

Here’s a link to the event page on Facebook. It’s not Gunther’s Ice Cream or anything, but still—challenge accepted, SN&R readers?
