Sacramento-area cartoonist Sam Kieth, whose raw, unconventional style reshaped iconic characters like Wolverine and Batman and found its fullest expression in his groundbreaking series The Maxx, died March 16 from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was 63. A fiercely original storyteller, Kieth built a national following while remaining deeply rooted in the Sacramento creative community.
