Those in need of some free holiday merriment this weekend are highly advised to check out the “Unsilent Night” event that kicks off at 16th and P streets at 7 p.m. tomorrow night.

Even the scroogiest of holiday haters  will be hard-pressed to not like this.

“Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night” is a free interactive “sound sculpture” created when people play one of four tracks on their mobile devices. The music is piped out via wireless bluetooth speakers to create what’s described as a “roving swarm of speakers carried through the city streets.”

The event’s been happening in other cities since 1992 and finally arrives in Sacramento. Participants will gather at Fremont Park to embark on the walk, which will take approximately one hour.
