Earlier this week, Davis Music Fest released the lineup for its fourth annual festival on June 21. The all-day affair consists of 40 bands on eight stages, all within a six-block radius in downtown Davis. Yes, that means you can walk from venue to venue, listen to tons of live music and drink to your heart’s content. That’s why there’s a designated hangover brunch on Sunday at Delta of Venus.

Most musicians play some sort of folk, bluegrass or indie rock, though some veer toward pop, jam band and funk.

Lake Tahoe alt-country band Dead Winter Carpenters and Bay Area experimental indie artist John Vanderslice headline this year’s festival. Dead Winter Carpenters has played the likes of High Sierra and Strawberry Music Festival. Vanderslice is a strong proponent of analogue and has toured with indie stars such as Sufjan Stevens, The Tallest Man on Earth and St. Vincent.

French Cassettes, an up-and-coming indie pop band from San Francisco, Cherry Royale, an Atlanta-bred and Oakland-based funk group, Opus Orange, a Los Angeles ukulele-driven indie pop project, Rin Tin Tiger, a San Francisco alt-folk trio, and Vandella, a San Francisco southern rock band, are among the touring artists. But in general, the lineup is full of local love. Indie rock outfit Two Sheds is from Sacramento, though it’s now based in Los Angeles. And you should recognize lots of these names: Element Brass Band, Contra, West Nile Ramblers, Desario, Be Brave Bold Robot, Adrian Bellue and more on this poster.
