The first day of 2024’s Aftershock Festival kicked off with a lineup of hard rock heavy weights that thrilled fans late into the evening. Legendary thrash metal band Slayer performed the third and (possibly) final show of their reunion tour that was announced earlier this year. Recently reunited heavy metal band Pantera closed the Shockwave stage with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante filling in for the late Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell. Till Lindemann of Rammstein shocked the crowd with his current solo project. Lzzy Hale of Halestorm celebrated yet another birthday by performing at the 4-day festival. Biohazard played new music with its original lineup. Ministry performed tracks from their latest studio album HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES. Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Sen Dog threw some West Coast hip hop into the mix. Filter and Sevendust warmed up the crowd with afternoon performances on the two main stages.
