Tycho earns first Grammy nomination

Nominations for the 59th annual Grammy Awards dropped today. Normally, we wouldn’t bother to echo praise for the likes of Justin Bieber and Adele, but today, one of our own received a big nod.

Tycho’s fourth record Epoch was nominated for best dance/electronica album, up against heavyweights Flume, Jean-Michel Jarre, Underworld and Louie Vega. San Francisco-based Tycho is, of course, Sacramento native Scott Hansen’s project, which also includes local Zac Brown. Tycho got its start playing Sacramento clubs, back when the electronic scene was in its mere infancy.

From Tycho’s Facebook page:

The first Tycho release was 14 years ago and since that time I’ve had the good fortune of working with some incredibly talented and passionate people to help realize this vision. For me Epoch felt like the culmination of that journey so to have it recognized in this way is something truly special.
