Off the Grid brings food trucks to the Barn

After years of teasing, the Barn in West Sacramento is nearly complete.

Officials announced Friday that the futuristic structure at 985 Riverfront Street should be fully operating in early 2017, with the capacity to host music festivals, markets and other destination events, in addition to its flagship restaurant ran by the Bay Area’s Drake’s Brewing.

But its first-ever event will be Off the Grid: Friday Nights @ the Barn, a weekly food truck festival starting August 5. From 5 to 10 p.m., 12 food trucks will pair up with dance-friendly live music, booked by Nick Brunner of Capital Public Radio. Among the participating, rotating trucks: Street Eatz, Cali Love, Culinerdy Cruzer and Slightly Skewed.

This is Off the Grid’s fourth expansion since it entered Sacramento in June. In addition to the Barn, Off the Grid hosts festivals in Riverfront Park on Sundays, outside the Crocker Art Museum on Tuesdays and, starting Friday, August 4, in Rancho Cordova’s Prospect Park for lunch.
