LadyFest goes camping

Remember LadyFest, that rad two-day feminist festival from last July? It was so rad that the organizers decided to do it again this year, and this time they’re taking a camping trip to boot.

In addition to their music-oriented fest (set for July 15-16 this year), they’ve announced the Northern California LadyFest Campout for June 3 through June 5.

Specifics seem to be shaping up right now, but it’s definitely at the Nugget Campground in Placerville, and organizers are looking for all sorts of folks to help prepare workshops and to help put on entertainment. Expect totally inclusive good stuff, like gender nuetral bathrooms, childcare, wheelchair access and so on.

Also worth noting is that the event and its organizers are “actively antiracist, antisexist, antiageist, and antitransphobia and homophobia,” according to the event’s Facebook page, so leave that weak shit at home. Or just leave it entirely, because come on, dude.

If you’re interested in getting involved, check out the event’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1149660781718946) or reach out to organizers directly through ladyfestcampout@gmail.com.

In the meantime, keep an eye out next week for lineup announcements for the main festival later on: www.facebook.com/sacladyfest.
