California craft breweries grew by nearly 25 percent last year in California

You’re drunk, California. But at least you’re drinking a better beer.

New data just released by the California Craft Brewer’s Association says that the number of breweries in the Golden State shot up by 24 percent last year, to 520.

Here in the greater Sacramento region, there are nearly 50. (Perhaps that should be an exclamation mark: 50!)

A report from CCBA says that craft beer kicked in $6.5 billion to the California economy, up from 18 percent last year (final numbers due later this summer likely higher). The industry also employs an estimated 48,000 workers.
