Kings Arena goes 'farm-to-court'

The Sacramento Kings announced new arena partnerships earlier today at Soil Born farms. And yes, the location served as a major hint.

The upcoming arena will—you guessed it—embrace the city’s farm-to-fork movement. Chef Michael Tuohy of Block Butcher Bar and LowBrau will lead as executive chef, with restaurateurs Patrick Mulvaney, Randy Paragary and Randall Selland in advisory roles.

The arena will source 90 percent of its food and beverages from within 150 miles, including from more than 740 farmers, artisan cheesemakers, olive oil producers, craft breweries and wineries.

In the eco-friendly realm, the arena will install an organic food waste system, utilize compostable containers and build a LEED-certified kitchen.

“The Kings will create a culinary destination that is as rich as the soil that is cultivated throughout the valley,” said Kings President Chris Granger in a press release.
