Wanna burlesque? Sizzling Sirens holding open casting call Aug. 3

By now, you’re hopefully aware of Sacramento’s bustling burlesque scene. Maybe you’re even inspired, secretly dreaming of tassles at night.

If so, note that the Sizzling Sirens, Sacramento’s longest-running, arguably most elite neo-burlesque troupe, is holding its first open casting call in more than four years on Sunday, Aug. 3 at Assembly Music Hall (1000 K Street). This is a rare, rare opportunity, and the troupe is looking for both full and rotational members.

The Sirens’ current age range is from 22 to 42. And as founder Jay Siren says, “Only half of the girls have actual technical dance or theater experience, but everyone has the sizzle.” Sizzle required.

Here are all the guidelines and info about the audition, including the official definition for “sizzle.” Folks serious about auditioning are also advised to attend the Sirens’ burlesque clinic on Sunday, July 27 at the Firehouse 5 dance studio (2014 9th Street), which costs $18-$25.

Meanwhile, here’s some sizzle to get you going. Please note the Spongebob Squarepants sketch at 0:08.
