This summer’s Concerts in the Park schedule was released earlier today, and it features plenty of favorite local bands as well as some national acts with Sacramento roots.
Post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance, harcore punk legend 7 Seconds, dance-punk group !!! (Chk Chk Chk), hard rock band Burn Halo and soulful singer-songwriter Andy Allow are the headliners with the most clout, but the local headliners and main supporting acts are solid across the board. And both of Sacramento’s contestants on NBC’s The Voice, Jeremy Briggs and James Cavern, are slated to perform.
Pop, rock, punk, reggae, country, soul, funk and indie styles are all well-represented, and deejays open up the shows each night, but local hip hop and rap enthusiasts are likely to be sorely disappointed.
Anyway, the series takes place on Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cesar Chavez Plaza. Here’s the full lineup and some tunes to get you started:
