Not the Kings Rally type? Throw down a few 'Purple Reign' cocktails at Blackbird Kitchen & Bar, instead.

So I was out on Tuesday night wrapping up research for SN&R’s summer cocktail preview when Chef Carina Lampkin of Blackbird Kitchen & Bar slid a “Purple Reign” in front of me, clearly trying to dodge all the incisive, vodka-related questions I was mumbling from my barstool (“Alcohol made from potatoes. What’s up with that?!”).

It’s a cocktail that was designed to celebrate the previous failed attempt to relocate the Kings, but of course now, it’s got all new wind in its sails. Vodka, creme de violette, lemon and lavender. I don’t care if you’re manlier than Rock Hudson; this drink is delicious.

Coincidentally enough, this evening, right across the street at Cesar Chavez Park, this Kings rally is happening from 5-9. So go drink some vodka and say hey to Chris Webber (and Mitch Richmond, Scott Pollard, Bobby Jackson, Tyreke, K.J. and St. Ranadive) and don’t even worry about how we’re going to pay for the arena.

And I know I just got all glossy-mag on you all, so afterwards, go to the Daft Punk party at LowBrau.
