Coffee Review has chosen its top 30 coffees of 2015, and four Sacramento-roasted batches made the list.  

Temple Coffee and Tea led the way at No. 6 with its Panama Don Pepe Estate Geisha Single-Origin Espresso. It was released back in October and received a 96-point rating. In Coffee Review’s words:

Delicately yet vastly intricate; crisp yet lush. Buttery chocolate, deeply sweet, lilac-like flowers, pungent sandalwood in aroma and small cup. Light, silky mouthfeel; flavor consolidates but rings on in a richly drying finish. Complex and complete in three parts milk: buttery, fruit-toned chocolate, a continuing shimmer of flowers.

Yum.

Temple also nabbed the No. 17 spot for its Costa Rica Alberto Guardia Venecia Honey from November, which is still available to purchase. Old Soul Co. picked up No. 19 with this month’s Nicaragua Pacamara Los Congos Los 8 as well as No. 23 with its Decaf Ethiopia Sidamo from August, which you can also still order online. 

This isn’t the first time Sacramento roasters were awarded spots on the coveted list. In 2013, a Temple coffee was ranked No. 1. Last year, its highest sat at No. 5. 

Coffee Review calls itself the “world’s leading coffee guide.” It publishes reviews of excellent coffees throughout the year, and to get reviewed at all is a feat. In 2015, Sacramento saw more roasters than ever get reviewed, with Insight Coffee Roasters, Pachamama Coffee Cooperative and Seasons Coffee Roasters joining the ranks of Temple, Old Soul and Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters for the first time.
