Roberta MacGlashan announced today she won’t seek a fourth straight term on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors when her term is up at the end of 2016.

As the District 4 supervisor, MacGlashan represents the unincorporated communities of Orangevale, Antelope, Rancho Murieta and Rio Linda/Elverta, a territory that has been redistricted during her 11-plus-year term.

Before being elected to the board in 2004, MacGlashan served two terms on the Citrus Heights City Council.

As someone who trended more pro-development and fiscally conservative on the board, MacGlashan won praise from groups like the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, North State Building Industry Association, American Planning Association and Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce.

She also earned criticism from this publication for her stances against inclusionary housing and medical marijuana.

In a release, MacGlashan said she hasn’t decided what she will do next.

“I have accomplished most of the goals I set when first elected in 2004,” she said in the release. “We helped put the county on stronger financial footing, restored the commitment to public safety, and weathered the deepest economic downturn of the century.  It has been a privilege and an honor serving the people of Sacramento County–one I will never forget. But now it’s time to give another leader the chance to represent District 4 and tackle the new challenges facing Sacramento County.”
