Davis Beer Week canceled, then un-canceled, avoids being latest victim of lame Alcohol Beverage Control laws

UPDATE: Davis Beer Week sent this message to SN&R via Facebook just now: “The ABC has reached out to us and we are going to work together to get this event up and going.  We will be working with them to create a great event that will be enjoyed by everyone in Davis. Please stand by for an update while we work out the details.”

So, after announcing its cancellation earlier this afternoon, looks like Davis Beer Week is back on. For now.

Here is the previous report:

First, it was the Grape Escape. Now, Davis Beer Week is the latest alcohol-fueled event to cancel because of complications with Alcohol Beverage Control laws.

We’ll get more information from the organizers soon. But we’re assuming that breweries and suppliers were wary of participating because of ABC investigations of Sacramento Beer Week and Grape Escape in the past year.
