One might have expected the fourth day of this year’s Aftershock Festival to serve as a cool-down, but the parting hours felt more like a final battle cry. The ground was worn and voices were hoarse, but the energy was still as fierce as it was at the start of the event. There was no holding back.  All in, the festival drew more than 164,000 fans over the weekend; the largest turnout in history. The festival organizers introduced new fan experiences to elevate things to new heights including; The Capitol Club (an all-inclusive oasis with premium amenities), a pop-up speakeasy, and spontaneous performances scattered throughout the venue. By mid-morning, mosh pits were already percolating to sets from Dope, Sleep Theory and Static-X. Festival-goers seemed determined to leave everything on the battlefield. Rev Theory and Sick Puppies crushed the Coors Light stage and primed fans for big afternoon sets by Black Veil Brides, In This Moment and Motionless In White. Mudvayne and Marilyn Manson ushered in the darkness, and GWAR took it a shade darker by eviscerating a mock DJT. And still, this year’s metal brigade charged on undeterred until shock-rocker Rob Zombie and Bring Me The Horizon surrendered their final anthems.  Until next year.
