Ginger Elizabeth serving cupcakes for one day only

It’s been three long years since Ginger Elizabeth last served cupcakes, but due to popular demand, the treats are making a one-day return.

Mark you calendars for Saturday, March 19, a.k.a. Cupcake Day. Midtown’s favorite chocolate boutique Ginger Elizabeth (1801 L Street) will serve four varieties for $3.75 each. If you imagine purchasing at least six, you can call in your order in advance.

The menu features red velvet cupcakes, a recipe from the owner’s grandmother, with cream cheese frosting and Valrona chocolate pearls; chocolate topped with salty caramel buttercream and sauce; carrot cake filled with walnut praline custard and topped with cream cheese frosting and coconut granola; and butter cake filled with blueberry jam and frosted with earl grey tea buttercream. If you plan to pop in just for one cupcake, get there early. Once they sell out, they’re gone forever.
