BLT Week, general bacon mania return July 7

Bacon is almost back.

Not that it ever really went anywhere. But the dudes behind Sacramento Bacon Fest (full disclosure: one of those dudes is SN&R’s Nick Miller) will pork up the town for the third annual BLT Week, July 7 through 13.

For the first time, the week includes a BLT Farm Tour. Essentially a bunch of bacon fiends, chefs and restaurant folks will brunch at Hook & Ladder, tour the Center For Land Based Learning farm in Winters, nab a taste of Michael Thiemann’s upcoming Empire Tavern via boxed lunch and then drink beer at Berryessa Brewing Co. $50. Sunday, July 13. Tickets are here, but by the time you read this, it may already be too late.

All week long, restaurants will pepper their menus with their takes on the magnificent Bacon-Lettuce-Tomato sammie. But there are official events too, if you care about endorsements.

The kickoff party takes place at Broderick (319 Sixth Street, West Sacramento), from 5 p.m. to closing on Tuesday, July 8. No cover, just bacon and good beer.

On Thursday, July 10, head to Block Butcher Bar (1050 20th Street) for special BLT brats, cocktails and special a #beernerd menu. No cover, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

And finally, Patrick Mulvaney of Mulvaney’s B&L will be hanging out at the Midtown Farmer’s Market (parking lot on J Street between 20th and 21st streets) on Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to noon with cider and BLT bites.
