I am a 57 year old drummer who has resumed playing since Dec. 2003. I currently play with a band. However, I want to play more often. I'm looking for a R&B band first but am open to Jazz, Gospel, Classic Rock, others. Call me at 916-868-2209 (cell) or 916-381-7059 (home).

Drum lessons are available from Phillip Ginn to those in the greater Sacramento, CA area. Weekday morning, mid-day, and Sunday time slots available!

Phillip has been drumming for over 18 years and teaching for 14. He was a member of the Mandarins Drum & Bugle Corps where he played bass drum (1992 season), tenors (1996), and snare (1993-1995, 1998). He was the percussion instruction assistant at CK McClatchy for 9 years where he also began a composing and arranging career. He has served as percussion caption head for the Lincoln, Union Mine, Orestimba, and Center High School drumlines and has played in pop, rock and jazz bands in Sacramento.

Phillip is currently the percussion caption head for Inderkum High School, is on the percussion and design staff at West Campus High School, and gives private lessons. He is the co-founder of PiNdrop Music Design (www.pindropmusicdesign.com).


Students can learn rudimental percussion, drum set, or both. There's an emphasis on theory, technique, and "conceptual drumming",� ways in which to approach the craft. A multitude of styles and genres are covered. Both traditional and match grip can be taught, depending on what the student is ready for and/or wants to learn. House calls are available if necessary.

As some of you already know, I relocated from Tampa, FL where I was Artist Relations, Head of Quality Control and the Set-Up Dept. for DEAN and LUNA GUITARS (5 1/2 yrs.). More than likely, if you purchased a Dean or Luna instrument in the past 6 years, I did the set- up.

Over the course of 5 1/2 years with Dean, I've done over 75,000 instrument set-ups. I needed a break from pointy guitars and Florida.

I now am in Orangevale, CA and founded "GUITAR WORX".

I understand that your instrument is an extentsion of YOU. You know how you want it to play and feel. Not how someone tells you it should. It's your instrument.
Every guitar is different. I take everything into consideration. Your string guage, tuning, playing style, etc. Everything factors in and I apply it so it is perfect for you.
I do Electrics, Acoustics, Basses, Banjos and Mandolins. I also electrify acoustic instruments.
