Some big (and funny) stuff is happening over at the Sacramento Comedy Spot. First off, the Sacramento Comedy Spot’s 48 Hour Comedy Marathon is this weekend, from 8 p.m. on Friday, March 27, to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 29.

It’s two days straight of comedy: sketch comedy, stand-up comedy, live game shows, film screenings, ’80s-themed aerobic exercises, a “1K pajama walk”, and plenty more shenanigans. Individual events range from free to $15, and an all-festival pass costs $30. Check out the website for a full schedule and more details. There’s even a live stream this year. 

Also, earlier this month, Comedy Spot owner Brian Crall announced pretty big news: He’s starting a non profit foundation “to support local comedians and also promote Sacramento as a comedy destination.” Check out the video announcement below.

Crall added a few more details in a follow-up Facebook post on March 15:

This month I will be filing to establish the Sacramento Comedy Foundation whose mission will be promote Sacramento as a destination for comedy and support Sacramento Comedians. I will be serving as President and Steven Bloom will serving as CFO and Director of the Sacramento Comedy Festival. Mel Gelbart has agreed to be Secretary. Several Sacramento movers and shakers will be asked to serve on the board and local comedians will be asked to serve on an advisory council. Let’s do this!
