Job Description WHAT WE DO SalesQualia is a premier sales coaching program for enterprise startups and technology companies. We work with CEOs, Founders and their sales teams to grow their revenue faster so that their companies can grow, scale and impact in their market. Our signature coaching program – The Startup Selling Program ™ – teaches startup CEOs the core elements of creating a solid business foundation and sales model, including the Strategic, Tactical and Operational components of their sales process. We show these early-stage business leaders how to identify their target markets and customers, establish their pricing models, prospect for new clients, gain commitment from new customers, provide their customers with stellar customer success strategies, while managing their company activities and teams to execute on the mission, vision and values of their companies. We work with some of the most innovative startup entrepreneurs and businesses from across the world, working with startups and growing companies in Silicon Valley, Boston, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Australia, France and the Middle East. In the Startup Selling Program ™ , member clients access an online and in-person community of entrepreneurs to support their work and business. Every week, member clients are invited to our Sales Acceleration Calls to work on their sales opportunities and the build repeatable sales systems that will enable them to fund and scale their business. We provide all member clients access to a virtual library that includes sales playbooks, frameworks and hundreds of hours of video training to advance their selling skills and build their sales process. During the year, we also run live events called "Client Intensives” where teams work side-by-side with each other and us to focus on key elements of their sales process and build their individual 100-Day Sales Plans. Our executive-level mastermind program – ELEVATE ™ – is where our top clients collaborate on key challenges and opportunities facing their business in their markets, learning from each other to grow and scale their companies even faster. ABOUT SCOTT SAMBUCCI, Founder & CEO Hi, I’m Scott Sambucci and the lucky one who gets to wake up every day to help our clients build the company they imagine. Over the past 20 years, I’ve helped three Silicon-Valley startups each grow to their first millions in revenue. I started my selling career just out of college, selling college textbooks in North Carolina with Prentice Hall Higher Education. In my first year of selling educational materials at ripe age of 22, I became the top sales rep in my discipline and the #5 sales rep in a sales force of more than 300 across the company. From there, I was promoted to become the youngest product manager at Pearson Education where I learned how to acquire, develop and publish both traditional and technology-based learning products. After a five-year run with Pearson Education during which time I earned my MBA from Duke University, Silicon Valley came knocking and I beckoned the call to “Go West, Young Man…” Working with internationally acclaimed economist, Paul Romer and his learning company, Aplia, we built, launched and sold on of the first online courseware products in higher education offering Economics professors the opportunity to run virtual experiments with their classes. Aplia was acquired by Thomson Learning, which eventually became Cengage Learning. Today, Aplia has been used by hundreds of thousands of students across a number of college and university-level business and social science courses. I then embarked on the first of my own ventures – an investment consulting firm called Economic Information Services. While the company scraped by for a few years, I ultimately decided that the business wasn’t one that would grow and scale how I envisioned, so I packed up shop and jumped back into the startup world, With Altos Research, I sold real estate market data and analytics to the mortgage, housing and financial markets. Starting as the first non-founder employee, I grew Altos Research to a multi-million dollar business and became the company COO before taking a break from the startup world for a short stint with CoreLogic. After quickly deciding that I missed the speed and challenge of working in a startup environment, I joined Blend as their Head of Sales in 2013, securing the company’s first customers and revenue. In Fall 2017, Blend secured it’s most recent funding round – a $100MM Series D investment led by Greylock Partners, valuing the company at $500MM. I began my work with startups, teaching workshops at events such as The Lean Startup Conference, Start-Up Grind and The Lean Startup Circle, while publishing two books – “Startup Selling: How to sell if you really, really have to and don’t know how” and “52 Sales Questions Answers: A Guide to Customer Development & Sales.” As these engagements grew and the word about my work spread, I was able to step away from my full-time work with Blend and make SalesQualia the focus of my professional work in 2015. THE ROLE – EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT Are you an Alfred? Batman has Alfred. Batman was a superhero, and so was Alfred, just without the cape and the Batmobile. I need an Alfred to help me run SalesQualia. Here are the tasks and responsibilities of this position Company Management & Production: Managing, checking and responding to emails and identify specific daily priorities that require attention from current and prospective clients. Managing our team of virtual assistants for podcast product, video production, graphic design, company website updates and bookkeeping. Researching and submitting to targeted “Call for Speaker” sessions at industry conferences and events. Calculating monthly company ratios from our accounting books, such as Cost of Customer Acquisition and Marketing Expenses. Booking occasional employee travel, including flights, hotel and train. Client Manangement & Communication: Scheduling and confirming weekly client meetings. Preparing summary notes from weekly client calls, and posting notes and recordings to our client management portals on Slack, Facebook and a WordPress member site. Write and send weekly emails to our clients with reminders, events and outcomes for the week. Running monthly payments in Stripe and QuickBooks. Organizing live client events hosted in San Francisco 3x/year (April, September & December), including location management and all related event production. Prospective Client Management & Communication: Organizing and managing live sales workshops held throughout the year (10+ events) in San Francisco and the Bay Area and online, including location management and the complete event production. Managing the production of workshop workbooks, slide decks and related materials. Drafting and sending contracts to new clients, and managing payments collected. Scheduling and confirming calls and meetings with prospective clients. Writing weekly Podcast show notes and Podcast guest promotion sheets. Promoting live events on social media channels. Our Technology Stack includes: Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Dropbox, Process Street, Evernote, Calendly, Assistant.to, YouTube, Facebook, Zoom, PandaDoc, Stripe, QuickBooks, WordPress, MailChimp, Active Campaign and HubSpot CRM. Ideally, you’ve worked with each of these software platforms, but it’s not a deal-breaker if we have to train you on a new system – we know how quickly the communication, media and productivity tools out there are changing. This position can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate. As a part-time position, a minimum of 20 hours is required. Salary and compensation will be commensurate with experience. We also have a company profit-sharing plan and quarterly bonus program based on reaching company and individual performance metrics. This may also be either a consulting or company employee position, depending on the candidate and their requirements. We are hiring for this position because of the our company’s growth trajectory. Previously, we employed a team of outsourced virtual assistants to manage the daily tasks described here. Because of the complexity and number of tasks that are required as we grow, it’s become necessary to bring aboard a dedicated person to manage and complete the daily processes required to make our company continue to go! SalesQualia is based in Davis, CA. While this job can be performed virtually in a work-from-home situation, it is required that the person be able to work from our offices in Davis for at least two days per month for a minimum of four hours so that we can tackle difficult projects, train on new policies and procedures and establish an overall system of positive workflow cadence.
