DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR : Yolo Food Bank (Woodland, Ca)
Regular Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; some weekend or after:hours work required. Must work day before and on the Thanksgiving holiday.
Status: Full time (40 hours per week), nonexempt, reporting to the Director of Development
POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Director of Development, and supports Yolo Food Bank donor and community outreach, fund development and related communications efforts. The position manages an extensive donor/constituent database, plans and oversees fund raising events and assists with grant writing and related research and reporting.
1. Donor/Constituent Database Management:
a. Updates and maintains an online donor/constituent management system (management system).
b. Trains and assists administrative, volunteer relations and other staff and/or volunteers tasked with inputting data, running reports and creating mailings and/or emails using the management system.
c. Coordinates implementation of the donor acknowledgement process (i.e. recognition for donations of funds, food and/or volunteer time) and drafts donor thank:you letters, acknowledgements for email, etc.
2. Event Planning and Implementation:
a. Manages the annual Running of the Turkeys 5K event, including:
* Coordinating directly with event contractors to identify and negotiate services and/or supplies to be provided, and overseeing all other necessary purchases.
* Recruiting, training and supervising a volunteer event planning committee.
* Developing and monitoring event budget.
* Developing sponsorship packages and working closely with local businesses and volunteer committee members to achieve sponsorship goals.
* Planning for and managing all on:site logistics for prior venue set up and event on Thanksgiving morning.
* Works closely with Marketing and Communications Coordinator on event components and promotional strategies to meet event attendance goals.
b. Acts as the Food Bank liaison for information on and coordination of inquiries from third parties offering to sponsor fundraisers to benefit the Food Bank.
c. Supports other Yolo Food Bank events as needed.
3. Grant Writing:
a. Drafts grant proposals to secure funding from corporate, non:profit and government entities.
b. Conducts internet and field research to identify and gather information on potential grant funders.
c. Synthesizes data collected on program outcomes and community needs for use in in grant requests.
d. Coordinates with grant writers to update a grant matrix detailing the content and status of grant applications and required reporting.
4. Donor and Community Engagement and Outreach:
a. Represents the Yolo Food Bank at outreach events, presentations and community events.
b. Arranges and leads outreach tours upon request at Yolo Food Bank facilities for potential and current donors and volunteers or interested community members.
c. Drafts newsletter articles and other donor communication and community outreach materials.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coaches and oversees development program volunteers as needed.
2. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Knowledge of fund development, grant writing, and/or event planning.
2. Strong work and team ethic; able to work effectively with a diverse community of staff, peers, agencies, donors, volunteers, and clients.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
4. Excellent communication (written and oral), business writing and presentation skills.
5. Strong planning, decision making and organizing skills.
6. Strong focus on details and accuracy in all aspects of duties.
7. Proficient in learning and using electronic systems and databases appropriately and efficiently.
