This is a great opportunity to work in the proven, strength based Birth and Beyond child abuse prevention program with a team of passionate, culturally diverse and committed members who provide home visitation, parenting workshops and support services to families in the historic Oak Park area of Sacramento. We are housed in the growing Fruit Ridge Community Collaborative (formerly Fruitridge Elementary School) alongside many other community based service organizations. Assist with the training coordination of Family Resource Center Home Visitors. Develop partnerships with schools and community agencies/entities to provide classes and activities on school campuses and in the community. Coordinate and provide outreach efforts to public officials, business, civic organizations, churches and community members to expand program services, support and referrals. Establish and maintain effective partnerships with schools, community based agencies, and neighborhood businesses. Increase parent recruitment, participation and retention in partnership with the Family Resource Center Coordinator. Coordinate all aspects of groups/classes including scheduling, arranging child care, transportation, materials, and facilitation in partnership with the Family Resource Center Coordinator. Facilitate, participate in team meetings and supervision to further enhance the collaborative nature of the program. Research and implement curriculum for effective groups for families with school-aged children, training methods, and materials for families with children. Coordinate with other sites to assure consistency across Birth and Beyond activities and attend monthly Birth and Beyond Family Resource Center. Facilitate groups for program participants. Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of service providers. Assist in play-care activities as needed. Plan and coordinate training's by external speakers/presenters as necessary. Bachelor's degree preferred; three years related experience; experience teaching parenting education classes a plus; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Ability to relate to children and families in a positive manner. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families. Skills to assess client needs. Knowledge of child development and behavior. Knowledge of child abuse issues. Knowledge of team, family and group dynamics. Excellent facilitation skills. Excellent writing skills. Excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills. Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner. Excellent problem solving skills.
