IT Support Specialist Location : Davis, CA 95616 Duration : 6 months+ Job Summary : IT Support Specialist, maintain operations of the Residential Computing Program and computer centers, provide computer workstation and IT Services support (300+ Windows workstation and Wyse Winterm client systems; all peripherals; local and remote users; Tier 1 and 2 help desk; residential network and computer lab technical advisor) and computer workstation lifecycle management. Responsibilities include supervising and training student staff; creating and managing user accounts, permissions, and resources; research and analysis for new products, inventory management; and customer service. Responsibilities : Provide support for desktop, laptop computer hardware & peripherals, Windows operating systems, thin clients, application software, & IT services via telephone, email, and in-person. Manage HelpDesk activity to maximize productivity and achieve high customer satisfaction. Respond in a timely manner & maintain courteous & informative communications to the user. Research, troubleshoot, determine possible root cause, & repair hardware, software, & network connectivity issues using available tools, eg desktop remote control. Install, maintain and troubleshoot all network & local printers. Provide user support for Windows OS & the Microsoft Offices suite of applications. Perform technical support including installation, configuration, troubleshooting & upgrading of all software (eg Dafis, Banner, PPS, MS Office, CCURE, Integra+, and Housing Applications). Answer & resolve issues when possible or forward to appropriate resource for the next level of support. Gather complete information on all reported issues, create & assign trouble tickets to the identified resource. Perform user account setup & management including computing & email accounts; assign & manage permissions/user rights; create & manage organizational groups, resources & distribution lists; create & troubleshoot group policies; manage file share access. Configure Active Directory & Microsoft Exchange to achieve the above. Troubleshoot email delivery problems with campus IT & resolve client issues. Forward issues as required to the appropriate department or resource. QUALIFICATIONS Experience and technical skills in the use, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of computer hardware and software in an network environment including; RAM; video, network, sound cards; floppy and hard drives; CD-ROM; modems; wireless devices; printers; etc. Skills to setup and configure Audio Visual equipment including projection systems, audio amplifiers/mixers, microphones, and speaker systems. Skill to instruct others in the setup and configuration of AV equipment. Organizational and time management skills to coordinate and complete multiple simultaneous tasks in a dynamic work environment with frequent interruptions and changes to work priority, scope, and schedules. Skills to research, analyze, understand and apply literature and resources to solve desktop and server hardware, software and connectivity problems. Skill to support network systems and services including domains, system security, backup and recovery, monitoring and troubleshooting. Experience with network protocols and topologies, especially TCP/IP, SNMP, and switched ethernet, and working with networking hardware including cabling, hubs, switches, routers, firewalls, etc. Experience using current Windows OS , MS Office applications, system backup and recovery , winPE, SMS, RAS, DHCP Server, IIS, Active Directory and MSExchange. Experience configuring and maintaining Active Directory resources and permissions. Skill to manage mailboxes, resources, distribution lists, and user groups. Preferred Qualifications for Selection: Knowledge and understanding of DOS command files and command file programming, environment variables and how they are used in configurations. Familiarity with Ethernet and wireless network protocols and operations. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and SMTP and familiarity with TCP/IP networking concepts. Skill to perform server and file share system backups and file recovery. Knowledge and experience with audio visual and multimedia systems. Ability to evaluate and recommend AV and multimedia systems for meeting rooms, auditoriums, and other venues. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for complex AV and multimedia systems. Why Kelly (R) ?
