PeopleFinders is looking for a talented Big Data Engineering Manager to join our engineering team in moving our technology and data solutions to the next level. Help us build a modern data platform in Hadoop & traditional RDBMS platforms, while using the latest technologies, and expanding your skillset. We are investing resources into setting up a more flexible and scalable data infrastructure to support the addition of new data sets and improve overall data quality and processing speed. An ideal candidate will be excited to be in a smaller company that moves quickly on a constant flow of ideas, be able to wear multiple hats as needed, and have the drive to exceed expectations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage and provide leadership to a team of database engineers and ETL developers Manage big data projects and assist the team in designing solutions, breaking down large projects into milestones, creating realistic timelines, and delivering results. Design and build robust, high-performance, and adaptable database schemas. Develop, optimize, and tune stored procedures, SQL scripts, and indexes. Develop and maintain data ETL records-matching processes, including supporting documentation. Responsible for overseeing Hadoop solutions design and development using Hive and Pig. Analyze and build searchable, multiple terabyte data sets. Work on challenging problems with clustering algorithms, customer segmentation, and fuzzy logic record merging/de-duplication. Proactively recommend best practices, optimizations, process improvements, and quality control. Generate sample data sets and test prototypes. Work closely with QA and IT teams to promote solutions to production systems. Qualifications & Skills BS in Computer Science or equivalent. 1 year minimum team-lead or management experience. Experienced in project management and agile development. Expert knowledge in advanced SQL (eg MySQL MS SQL). Experience with NoSQL technologies a huge plus. Working knowledge of Linux environment and shell commands Experience automating data load processes from a variety of sources, data modeling, partitioning, indexing, and architectural database design. Domain experience with people data, search engines, name/address matching, parsing, or linux text processing a plus. Strong knowledge of database standards, technologies, and solutions. Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead working groups, and negotiate consensus. Location Sacramento, CA
