Saint John's Program for Real Change is seeking a full-time Director of Finance who wholeheartedly supports our goal of breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence and who is ready to play a role in helping us fuel and manage the organizationA cents € (TM) s growth. Saint John's operates the largest comprehensive transitional housing program in Sacramento County, and the only one focused exclusively on homeless mothers and children - the most rapidly rising segment of the homeless population nationally. Established as an emergency shelter in 1985, Saint JohnA cents € (TM) s now provides not only shelter, it provides a hand up and out of poverty through a trajectory of services focused upon preparing them for employment and self-sufficiency. Included in this continuum are three housing programs and three social enterprises. The values of Saint JohnA cents € (TM) s are extremely important in every aspect. The Director of Finance will lead all day-to-day finance operations of Saint John's Program for Real Change, including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Director of Finance will ensure that Saint John's Program for Real Change has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Director of Finance will work closely with program leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can best support program operations. The Director of Finance will work with all internal departments. The Director of Finance is responsible for the preparation of financial reports including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, and other relevant financial data necessary for budgetary and financial decisions of management and the board of directors. They will manage all facets of accounting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting information systems, banking relationships, credit and data processing. The position requires development of accounting procedures as well as overseeing A/P, A/R and payroll. The position will also perform normal business functions such as budgeting, financial analysis, and cash management, internal audits, and banking. The Director of Finance shall maintain a positive and a productive relationship with the auditing firm to comply with generally accepted accounting principles and provide schedules to the CPA firm for preparation of annual audited financial statements and tax filings. Work Schedule: Full-time A cents € " Some nights, weekends, and holidays as required Key Responsibilities: A cents € cents Oversight of two bookkeeping staff who are responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and day to day banking. A cents € cents Budgeting, financial analysis, and cash management, internal audits, reviewing bank reconciliations. A cents € cents Grant compliance, including maintaining the segregation of grant funds, on-going training and internal and external reporting preparations, budget reports and grant allocations of both government and private grants. Monitor all government grants and timely filing of claims each month. A cents € cents Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. A cents € cents Compile financial information and prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements for CEO, Budget Managers, Board Presentation, consultant or CPA. A cents € cents Exercise administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area. A cents € cents Communicate in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Assigned Duties: A cents € cents Maintenance of internal controls over multiple locations A cents € cents Oversight and reconciliation of donor records between finance and development systems A cents € cents Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices A cents € cents Improve the finance departments policy and procedure manual A cents € cents Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants A cents € cents Banking- Oversee banking tasks ensuring control and accuracy at all times. A cents € cents Financial Reporting o Run detailed reports on an ongoing basis as requested o Maintain Capital Campaign schedule of pledges vs payments received o Submit ongoing financial reports and reimbursements for grant contracts o Maintain grant binder and release of temporary restrictions o Maintain list of PPE and all related reporting o Complete all financial reports related to the monthly financial close A cents € cents Does related work as required Desirable Qualifications: A cents € cents BachelorA cents € (TM) s degree in finance, accounting, other business majors or equivalent A cents € cents A minimum of 8+ years of accounting and full-charge bookkeeping experience preferably with a non-profit. A cents € cents Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Word and Outlook is required.
