Free Daft Punk party tonight in Midtown

A friend messaged me that people aren’t feeling the new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories, because “it’s too ‘70s.”

Dumbasses.

Anyway, for the rest of you who actually recognize legit fuckin’ jams when you hear them, tonight is a free Daft Punk party night at LowBrau in Midtown.

Deejays Shaun Slaughter, Adam J and Sam I Jam are in charge.

“I love the new record and love the new sound,” Slaughter told me via text this morning while I was waiting for Light Rail and listening to the above track (“Doin’ It Right,” featuring Panda Bear).

“Hints of Daft sounding stuff in there everywhere but a totally different sound for em. Ada and I joke that they couldn’t have made a better record for my tastes (yacht rock & disco combo).”

I’m in. Grab a cold Freigeist Kolsh and enjoy tonight’s free gig (Lowbrau, K and 20th streets, 9 p.m. to close, no cover, 21 and up).
